A-Teens reach for the world

A-Teens receiving Platinum for Upside Down.
Madonna, Paul McCartney and Elton John have done it! Now Swedish pop phenomenon debuts on the Internet – live and exclusive only on MSN in association with Ericsson.
Press release
Stockholm 9 Feb 2001.

Millions of fans worldwide will join Swedish pop band, A-Teens as the artists make their live debut on the Internet at MSN sites across the world on February 21st. The band will celebrate the release of their new album, Teen Spirit, with an exclusive concert, webcast live from a private launch party at the club Pacha in Madrid, Spain. Swedish fans can watch the concert on msn.se.

Although the launch party in Madrid will be attended only by invited guests and competition winners, fans from every corner of the globe will have the opportunity to log on to local MSN sites and take part in this unique event. The Teen Spirit Webcast is a collaboration between Stockholm Records, MSN (Microsoft Network) and Ericsson, who is sponsoring the event.

"We wanted to do something special for all of our fans around the world who might not otherwise get the opportunity to see us perform live," comments Sara from A-Teens, "and we know that many of our fans are very active on the Internet so this seemed to be the perfect way to reach them!"

"With this web casting, Ericsson Division Multi-Service Networks wants to show the world the possibilities of interaction and influence that exist in powerful broadband applications", said Mitch Lewis, Director of Marketing, Ericsson Division Multi-Service Networks.

Jesper Andersson, MSN spokesperson said, "This is a great opportunity to bring a truly global pop phenomenon to the ultimate global audience. In May 2000, MSN became the most popular web destination in the world and today attracts 230 million individual users per month. Put that together with a band like the A-Teens whose first album went Gold or Platinum in 22 markets worldwide and you’ve got an event with some serious potential."

Ola Håkansson, MD of Stockholm Records said "We are really pleased to have the opportunity to deliver this kind of pioneering promotion together with MSN and Ericsson. Madonna, Paul McCartney and Elton John successfully have done it. Now A-Teens have this chance to do local and global promotion at the same time. This is unique with Internet."

Showtime is 21.00 CET 21st February on msn.se and you are all very welcome to view.

A-Teens release their second album Teen Spirit worldwide on 26 February. Their debut album The Abba Generation has to this date sold Gold or Platinum in 22 territories.
